The town of Bastrop is located along a bend of the Bayou Bartholomew. It was originally a steamboat port but was slow to develop until the railroad came in the early 1900s. Currently Bastrop is known for paper and wood production. Downtown Bastrop has been designated a Historic District and was named a "Louisiana Main Street" in 2000. Best Western Bastrop Louisiana.

Chemin-A-Haut State Park
This State Park features fishing in a freshwater lake, cabins, camping, swimming pool, play-ground. Picnicking, group camp, trails and a meeting room. Call 318-283-0812 for more information.

Georgia Pacific Wildlife Management Area
Enjoy 25,480 acres of Wildlife area located just 5 miles northwest from Bastrop. This area is managed primarily for timber and is intersected by the Ouachita River. Hunting is allowed. Call 318-434-4044 for more information.

North Louisiana Cotton Festival & Fair
Located at the Fairgrounds at 9621 Marllat Drive. Held in early October, this 50 year- old festival includes livestock show, midway, entertainment and exhibits and great southern food. Call 318-281-3794 for more information.

Snyder Memorial Museum
Built as a home in 1929, the museum's permanent collection includes antique furniture displayed throughout the home. Also included in the permanent collection are antique clothing, photographs of social and commercial life from that era, artifacts from country stores, schools, doctors' offices, and farm equipment and tools from the turn of the century are in the Carriage House and on the grounds. The Rose Theatre
The Rose Theatre is located on the Courthouse Square. Built in 1927, it served as a venue for vaudeville actors and screened silent movies. Later converted to a movie theater, it closed in the 1970's and later reopened in 1985 by the Cotton Country Players, an amateur acting group. This group along with volunteers restored the theater to its original form.The Rose Theater provides, summer workshops for children, musical performances, Christmas, Easter, and other seasonal events, and tours.
