Gonzales is located in Ascension Parish. The town began in April, 1906, when Joseph Gonzales (the first mayor of Gonzales) subdivided the northern portion of the Henry B. Parker farm which he had acquired. He sold lots and squares for $50, $75, and $100. This area is home to some of the south's most interesting and informative tourist attractions. There are no less than a dozen Ante-bellum plantation homes within a short drive. Best Western Gonzales Louisiana.
