Bayou Speedway
Travel US Highway 80 to Old Shreveport Road, then travel to the racetrack at Allen Road. Season runs from March - October, every Saturday at 7:30pm. Racing classes include IMCA, Full Body, Sportsters, Super Stock, Mini Stock, and Special races such as Preseason, Super Late Models, and Powder Puff. Call 318-847-4594 for more information.
Canoeing on the Dorcheat
If calm waters interest you the beautiful Bayou Dorcheat winds its way through the entire length of Webster parish. This historic bayou offers excellent site seeing and canoeing. The beautiful Deauchite "Dorcheat" is a designated Scenic Louisiana Waterway. Canoes and Sportsman alike can access the bayou from a number of entry points.
Coca Cola Bottling Company Collection
Upon entering the Company you are greeted by a photo filled stairway, where the tour begins. Reprints of "old Minden dating back to 1903 is worth the time to read the dates and descriptions. Vast array of Coca-Cola collectibles includes clock collection, antique bottles, Santa Claus and Christmas, Antique boxes and machine to mention a few. Germantown Colonial Museum
Germantown Colony is one of three sites founded by the Utopian Movement or Harmonist Society in the early days of the 19th Century. In 1835, a group from the Economy, Pennsylvania site, under the leadership of "Countess von Leon", established a colony seven miles northeast of Minden. For 37 years the colony operated on a communal basis, finally dispersing in 1871. Above the settlement is the small well-kept cemetery. The tombstones reveal places of birth in Germany, and their dates often tell the sad story of early death.The Germantown Colony and Museum is located at 120 Museum Rd. Highway 2 Scenic Byway
Along the Northwest Louisiana Scenic Byway, Louisiana Highway 2 in Northwest Louisiana - and a network of other nearby scenic trails - you'll find a side of the state that reflects the diversity of Louisiana's varied culture. Louisiana Scenic Byway 2 travels through North Webster Parish, and through the towns of Sarepta and Shongaloo.
The Shadow Estate
The Shadow Estate was first settled and homesteaded in 1838 by Robert and Winnie Cooper Byas of Claiborne Parish. It has been estimated that the original log cabin was built at this time. The house is estimated to be the oldest surviving plantation home located in the north Louisiana piney hills country and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. The Shadow Estate is located 1 mile south of Interstate 20 on La. Hwy. 531 between Minden and Dubberly.
